check out a cool new database from the U.S. Dept of Labor. Future jobs & careers forecast is a great way to plan for the future. I imported the data in a useful format here: http://future-jobs.findthebest.com/
I have used several data sets from USDOE to enable graphical viewing of energy data. There are two components so far: one uses the State Energy Data System (SEDS) for annual, statewide data on consumption, expenditures, and prices by energy source, sector, and year. Visitors can design and build their own custom pie, bar, and line graphs. The data should be updated to include 2008 by the beginning of July, 2010, after ...more »

The second component uses gasoline and highway diesel pricess from USDOE, and is updated weekly. Visitors can display line graphs of prices by region of the US, or for some states and cities (limited only by the availablility of data).
Both components have one-click examples, and use data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) of the US Department of Energy. Please visit at:

We used a database from the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics. We wanted to make a searchable salaries database. We formatted the database along the top of the screen, jobs are listed by categories including Job Title, Industry Title, Total Employment, Hourly Mean Pay and Annual Mean Salary. For example, if you want to sort jobs in order of average salaries, select the Annual Mean Salary category to group results accordingly.
You can sort the filters below to narrow your search field. If you're looking for careers that offer an annual mean salary of at least $150,001, then check the boxes next to $150,001-$200,000 and $200,001-$250,000 under the Annual Mean Salary filter. Interested in finding out the average hourly pay of lawyers in the real estate industry? Type lawyer into the Job filter and real estate into the Industry filter to narrow your search accordingly. Are you an accountant in the finance industry looking to find out the average salary for a person in your position? Type in Accountant in the Job filter and Finance in the Industry filter for immediate results. You can also compare various jobs and industries to find out how much they pay above the minimum wage.
This would be very useful to incoming college freshmen trying to decide what major to choose or job seekers looking for a high paying career.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks

Application URL: http://cloud.jackbe.com/mashlets/demos/broadband-applicants/
Application Description: This application was created using JackBe's Presto Enterprise Mashup Platform. This app uses the 'Broadband Technologies Opportunities Program and Broadband Initiatives Program Database' published by the Department of Commerce on data.gov.
The 'Broadband Applicant Geospatial Mashup App' presents a view of how the government could potentially allocate federally funded dollars to support the extension of Broadband infrastructure and education across the nation. This collection of mashup apps provides deeper insight into the companies, locations, projects and loans/grants requested to fulfill the Broadband promise. Each mashup app is detailed below.
Broadband Plan Dollars: Shows the total dollar amounts requested for Broadband infrastructure development, non-infrastructure education, applicant loans and applicant grants needed to extend Broadband across the nation.
Filter Broadband Applicants: Allows users to filter Broadband applicants by state, project grant amount, project type and organization. The results are displayed on a map with additional information about the company contact and project title. To view more project details, click 'view details' to initiate the applicant details app below.
Applicants Details: Provides more detail on the applicant's project description, type and grant/loan requested.
Org Project Funding Chart: Displays the percentages between the total project cost, the requested loan amount, the requested grant amount and any monetary difference the applicant would fund. The chart reflects what project amount would be funded by the government and what project amount would be funded by the applicant.
This collection of mashup apps is a great example of how mashups apply to an important public issue like transparency. Broadband is an important step in the right direction for everyone to participate in the information age. Set to drive economic productivity and opportunity, Broadband continues to be a powerful resource for our growing nation.

For this demo, we used semantic data derived from ozone and visibility readings provided by the EPA's Castnet project. This semantic data combines raw data on Castnet readings (ozone and visibility) with corresponding geographic information on the sites of readings, which the raw Castnet data from data.gov lacks. On the provided map of the US, every yellow dot represents a single Casetnet site and dot size corresponds to an average Ozone reading for that site, where larger dots represent larger averages. When a Castnet site is clicked, a small pop-up opens, displaying more information on that site, along with a link. This link takes the user to another page that displays in a timeline all the Ozone and Visibility data available for that site. This timeline uses the Google Visualization API giving users added functionality in how they view the data in the timeline. To allow users to filter through Castnet readings, a faceted browsing interface (from the MIT Simile Exhibit API) is provided.
You can see the demo at http://data-gov.tw.rpi.edu/demo/exhibit/demo-8-castnet.php and read more about this application and its development process at http://data-gov.tw.rpi.edu/wiki/Demo:_Castnet_Ozone_Map

Hi,
The current data is not in mashable form. If the data was made available as REST XML feeds, it would be mashed and you would have tons of examples here.
